Founders
Bob McNichols, Chairman Emeritus Mary Elyn McNichols
In 1980, Bob and Mary Elyn McNichols founded McNichols & Associates—a regional firm specializing in the development of senior housing. Coordinated Services Management, Inc. (CSM), was created in 1981 to meet the need for professional management of the senior housing communities being developed by McNichols & Associates.
As principals of the affiliate companies, Bob and Mary Elyn were true pioneers in the design, development, and management of some of the very first assisted living and memory care communities in Virginia. Their hands-on leadership, compassion, and sincere concern for residents and staff are the foundation for the company to this day.
Mary Elyn McNichols passed away in 2022 after more than 50 years of dedicated leadership in the senior living industry. Her legacy of service and compassion continues to guide the mission and operations of the companies she helped found.
Bob McNichols retired in 2024 but remains an important part of the CSM legacy as our Chairman Emeritus.
